Some of the most honest and down to earth people in the Red Angus industry would have to be Jenna and Jarrett Loveridge from JJL Livestock. When you take a tour through their herd, you are literally taken aback by the quality and thought they have put into each individual mating, and their clear and concise culling throughout their breeding stock. If the cow is not perfect in every way shape and form, she is either culled out, or they will make sure you know any weak point she may have, and there are usually very few to mention. The year we bought Big Deal, JJL had a pen full of promising herd bulls, many half brothers to him. Jenna was adamant that 58Z was the bull for us. His mother, Riverdale Ann 571N had been a foundation cow in the JJL herd, and she had left her mark on this exciting young bull. We were impressed with his correct structure and performance, and we were familiar with his pedigree. Big Deal 58Z was a great purchase for us. His birthweight has been consistently low; allowing many of his sons to be sold as heifer bulls, and his females have entered our purebred herd, and are producing like crazy! The udders are great, and the females are one like the other, following the look of the original Riverdale cow. Big Deal is still walking at Redline, and will continue to be a great asset in female building, incorporating the great qualities the Loveridge herd has to offer.
