We steer about 2/3 of our bull calves each year, and we sell only the best of what we have to offer; effectively the top 10% of our calf crop. Each bull is semen tested and guaranteed. We try to improve the pen every year, and ensure that each bull calf has a sound, strong mother to back him up. We do not sell calves that are slow to start, excessive birthweights, or those that have had health issues along the way. We do not alter birth dates, and we compare the pens performance on adjusted basis, while taking into account the date the calf hits grass.
